Maisto have dropped a sneak peak at their upcoming 1/18 scale model of the thunderous Ford Mustang GTD.

Authentically finished in the same menacing grey as the real car, the model captures the GTD’s aggressive aerodynamic shape perfectly and features opening hood and doors, plus the usual levels of Maisto detail. Particularly notable are the interior details and the dramatic rear spoiler.

Unveiled on August 17, 2023, the GTD is a street-legal version of Ford’s FIA Group GT3 racing Mustang for the 2025 model year. Unsurprisingly, the GTD name doesn’t indicate that the car runs on diesel fuel – rather, it comes from the Gran Tursimo Daytona class of GT3 sports cars raced in the IMSA SportsCar Championship.

Powered by a supercharged 5.2L Predator V8 borrowed from the last-generation Shelby GT500, the GTD has a top speed of 202mph. It was also the first US-made production vehicle to lap the Nurburgring circuit in less than seven minutes.

No release date for the model has yet been announced but it is expected in stores before the end of the year.
