1/43 Scale Car of the Year: Goldvarg ’53 Ford Country Squire

It’s the 50’s. The US believes more strongly in it’s mission than ever, and your parents (or grandparents) need a bigger car to ferry Jimmy and Beatrice to and from baseball, ballet, and school across the miles of just-opened interstate. Ford is here to answer the call. The country squire is a big, practical wagon, but in that American spirit, it comes with a bit more: Chrome wheels, bumpers and trim, wood paneling and a striking, deep blue paint scheme. The Joneses don’t stand a chance.

Fast forward to 2019. Wagons have all but vanished from the automotive landscape. Sedans are gray, plastic, and largely similar. Folks like Sergio Goldvarg, however, remember the good ol’ days. With this 1/43 Scale recreation, the Goldvarg Collection captures that special moment when the family car was more than transportation. This ’53 Country squire has the wood paneling, the chrome, and the great, deep Glacier Blue paint of the family cars we remember. It’s a great addition to the Model Car Hall of Fame.
