Touring Model Cars 1966 Alfa Duetto Spider 1-18

1966 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider is a Nice Start for Touring Model Cars

Every now and then collectors are surprised to find a new diecast release of some vehicle that has been inexplicably ignored. Take this Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider. It’s unquestionably one of the most beautiful and iconic Italian cars ever, yet try finding one for a reasonable price. Thanks to Touring Model Cars, a new diecast company, that niche has been filled.

The original Duetto Spider was designed by Pininfarina, perhaps most famous for their work with Ferarri. This was a car for the masses, however. It was instantly classic, beautifully detailed and proportioned, nimble, and just fast enough at a fair price. It didn’t hurt that Dustin Hoffman drove one in The Graduate, inspiring an even less expensive entry-level version of the car. The car would continue production for the next 30 years or so, evolving, but instantly recognizable despite updates.

Touring Cars is a new company founded by Thomas Langejürgen of online diecast retailer Ravensberger Handelskontor. He saw a need for this model and decided to fill it himself. The result is impressive with opening doors, boot, and bonnet. We can’t wait to see what they come up with after this.
