The holiday gift-shopping season starts earlier and earlier every year, but what about the gift-giving season? Diecast Day of Giving is organizing an effort to gather 24,000 diecast vehicles to be given to kids worldwide.
The official date of the event is October 12, 2024, but you can contribute early.
Driven Dreams, along with the YouTube Channel Diecast Breakdown, are leading the effort. You can donate unopened 1/64 vehicles to them, or directly to charities in your area. So dig through your extra Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, and other similar-size diecast.
“In 2021 Driven Dreams (then known as Hotwheels4Hope) collected and distributed over 4,000 diecast cars to kids in need in the Seattle area,” according to their website. “This number rapidly grew to 10,000 cars in 2022, then 13,000 in 2023 after we encouraged collectors to donate cars in their communities. What started as a local initiative in our own city has now grown to impact children across the US (and even as far as Europe and Indonesia!)”
Who doesn’t have a few spare blister cards sitting around the house, right? Empty your closet and fill someone’s heart with joy!
You can donate directly to the organization by mailing your diecast to one of the following addresses.

Diecast Dreams is not net set up as a tax-deductible charity yet, so you might consider donating locally if you want the write-off. Here’s how you can do that.
1. Choose one or more organizations in your area and reach out to ensure they are accepting toy donations
2. Collect any number of unopened diecast cars to donate to your chosen organization(s)
3. Once you have acquired your cars for donation, tally them up and email info@drivendreams.org with the following information:
• Your name
• Total number of cars being donated
• Name of the organization you are donating to
• Attach a photo of your donation cars so we can include it in a compilation video
4. Deliver your donations on the Diecast Day of Giving!

Also, if you post about this event online, use #DDOG to help spread the word.
Not sure where to donate? They recommend Children’s hospitals, food banks, shelters, community centers, or any charity organization in your area benefitting children and families.
