This Diecast Restoration Video is the Most Realistic You’ll Watch

We’ve written about the ubiquitous diecast “restoration” videos that have exploded on YouTube in recent years. They can be fun to watch, but some of them really stretch the credibility of the creators. Some of them are so ridiculous they appear to be filmed in reverse!

We found this video on Reddit (r/BeAmazed) and must declare it to be among the best of the bunch. First, we see a detailed 1/18 scale junkyard full of lost cause diecast. Then we are treated to a Dodge SuperBee being loaded onto a trailer (they even use a winch!!!) before the car ends up in a beautifully clean garage.

The realism in this video is of course, kind of silly. Everything is performed by a large human hand, but aside from that, the process stays true to physics. Instead of dismantling the car and handling the parts like, well, a model car, the body is kept on the chassis, and the car is treated the way a real resto project might unfold.

They even tidy up between steps with a tiny shop broom. We could yammer on and on, but watch the video instead.

The Reddit poster admits they do not know the original source of the video, but if you can help identify the creator, let’s see if they can get credit. This video may restore your faith in model car videos.
