A good friend of the Model Car Hall of Fame made a rare wildlife discovery recently. Can you see it in the photo?
Not technically wildlife, but wild diecast.Ā Itās some sort of small, yellow vehicle in the sand below a walkway to a beach on Jekyll Island, Georgia. It’s about 10 feet below the deck. How it caught her eye is a mystery. The vehicleās identity was a mystery too. It clearly seems to be a 1/64-scale vehicle, probably Hot Wheels or Matchbox.

Okay, itās a yellow truck, very likely from Hot Wheels, based on the five-spoke chrome rims.
Weād be curious to know how it got there. There is a good chance a child who was on vacation wanted to drive it around in the very large sandbox that we call the beach. The kid was racing it along the railing and accidentally dropped it. It landed in a protected dune, so one would be ill-advised to attempt a recovery. In all likelihood, it will be swept under the sand within a week or so anyway.
Does anyone know what it is? Bonus points if you can figure out the year and series if applicable. Let us know in the comments!
