HVH Hot Wheels Collectors Holland Hold 17th Spring Meet

April saw the HVH Hot Wheels Collectors Holland hold their 17th annual spring meeting. A huge hit with collectors, the event has come a long way since it began as an idea on the HVH Hot Wheels Collectors Holland web forum. As organizer Mustafa Kuru told us;

“After being members for two years, we really needed to get together, but that turned out to be quite a challenge. So my brother and I decided to just go ahead and organize it ourselves. The HVH Spring Meeting. We started in an old clubhouse called “De Heester” with 17 visitors, including many German collectors and a few from Belgium. We ate, drank, and tackled a serious downhill track!”

For the first five years, the group had to cover expenses out of their own pockets, something they were happy to do as passionate collectors. By then, however, the event had grown to around 60 regular visitors, necessitating a welcome move to a larger venue, “De Wandelunie.”

The larger premises meant the event could expand, allowing the group to add a Custom Car Contest and a Bingo game. The name also changed to HVH International Hot Wheels Spring Meeting. The event continued in that form for another six years, at which point the group decided the event needed a further glow-up. As Kuru says; “We wanted to really hold onto that family feeling. That was our concept! The family feeling—our father, brother, and even my wife and children started helping out, and every visitor got a hug after we hadn’t seen each other for sometimes as long as a year. Ultimately, we simply want to put collectors and friendship first, without any profit motive.”

Seventeen years after launch, the group is still one big family. “We want to keep our long-time collectors together as much as possible and gradually welcome new members who also appreciate this concept.”

The 17th event had 160 registered participants and some 15 walk-ins and was a huge success. It now takes place in a hotel with seven rooms for selling, buying and trading plus an open buffet, drinks, Bingo, downhill track racing and the custom car contest. Attendees received a commemorative button, e-sheet and a special embroidered trucker hat. Next year’s 18th event is set to be even better, Kuru adds, with an expanded custom car contest.

We now have regular attendees from Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, and of course the Netherlands.” says Kuru, adding “I’m still waiting for our first American visitor.” With the 18th event set to take place in Spring 2027 at the Resort Hotel Bad Boekelo in Boekolo, NL, could one of our readers be the first?!
