With the release just around the corner of Matchbox: The Movie, the first-ever official film based on the Matchbox diecast line, we’ve just seen the first tie-in toys. And they are awesome!
Launching later this summer, ahead of the film’s October 9th release on Apple TV+, the range will include something for everyone with tie-in models across all product ranges, including the mainline and collector ranges. All will include a mix of new and recolored castings.
The mainline cars will include a Land Rover 6×6, a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, a 2024 Triumph Scrambler motorbike, a 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo, a 2019 RAM Ambulance, a Chevy Stock Car, a Mercedes Sprinter Ambulance and a 1986 Ford F-150. These will be sold individually and in multipacks.
There will also be playsets including a mobile command, a mountain helicoper escape playset and a junkyard, all reflecting action scenes from the film. Real Working Rigs series issues will include a Ford F-650 recovery truck and the Moving Parts range models will feature a VW T2 van with opening side door among others.
For grownups, there will be a premium 1971 Dodge Challenger, Camaro, Mustang and Land Rover. In addition, they’ll get a more grown-up “playset”. Named the “Desert Chase Escape” collector set, this will recreate one of the film’s high-speed chases in special display packaging.
