For fans of Eastern European cars, there was a huge model drought for decades. In particular, if you wanted a model of a Skoda, you generally had to hunt down models actually made in the Eastern Bloc by companies like Rozkvet which was no easy feat in the pre-internet days. And that was especially the case if you wanted a 1/64 scale model. Out of the main western brands, only Matchbox made a Skoda. The casting was short-lived and sells at a premium today.
Luckily, in the modern era, more companies have stepped into this niche. In particular, one of our favorite brands Welly, has no less than six Skoda models in their 1/64 range, covering all eras of the brand’s post-war cars; from the early front-engined Octavia, through the rear-engined models of the 1960s-1990s through the Volkswagen-owned era.
