For a product that in its purest form is basic transportation, automobiles can make us swoon with envy and wonder. Any car can get a driver from point A to point B, but drivers also crave speed. And adventure. And style. For decades, no automotive brand has filled drivers with such desire as Ferrari.
How many Ferrari posters have been hung in kids’ rooms, dorms, and garages over the years? How many hats and jackets have been worn in the hopes of looking like and feeling like the owner of such a machine? How many miniature Ferraris have found their way into sandboxes, on display shelves, and on desks?

That last question is most important here. And it’s why Ferrari is the Model Car Hall of Fame’s Automotive Brand of the Year for 2024.
Ferrari the car everyone lusts for while fully realizing they will likely never own one. The style, the speed, and the sound make everyone dream big. A major reason for their continued appeal is that Ferrari keeps it real as a successful racing brand that also makes road cars (or is it the other way around?).

That’s why Ferrari is so important to diecast. Virtually every production model by Ferrari has been replicated in miniature at some point. From $1 toys to large-scale works of art costing hundreds, even thousands of dollars, there’s a Ferrari for every budget as long as you’re willing to think small enough.
It’s worth noting that Ferraris added up to three of the nominees in this year’s Model of the Year categories (with one of them winning the award). Year after year, Ferrari remains ever-popular in miniature.
In addition to the honor, every year the MCHOF changes its logo to represent a car from the Automotive Brand of the Year. In the past, everything from McLaren to Jeep to Shelby has been recognized. This year, a 250-GTO fills the parking space in the logo. It’s the perfect blend of a successful race car that was easily translated to the road car, somehow form and function roaring down that road as one. It’s almost not fair that a car designed to be balanced and aerodynamic can be so beautiful.
For their enduring appeal to car enthusiasts, especially in diecast, Ferrari is inducted into the Model Car Hall of Fame as Automotive Brand for 2024
The Model Car Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany, on January 30, 2025. Thanks to everyone at Spielwarenmesse for having us as a part of their event.
