When you were a kid, you marveled at the awesomeness of construction equipment. Big, purposeful machines designed to move, shake, haul, build, and destroy. Most kids got a fix of this world in miniature via Tonka or Nylint or other rugged machines.

As amazing and articulated as those toys were, they were incredibly simple compared to the real thing. That’s what makes the Diecast Masters Cat D10 Dozer such a work of art. The sheer number of parts in this beast is staggering, and every single piece has a clear purpose. For capturing such a majestic beast in 1/50 scale, this is the model inducted in the Construction Equipment category for the Model Car Hall of Fame for 2024.
This Cat looks like it weighs a ton, and it is very heavy for sure. Almost all of it is metal, with just a few plastic detail parts. the short wheelbase (tread base) makes this model feel very compact and efficient. It’s hard to sense the scale until you study the enclosed cab and figure out how small a human operator would be.

This is not a model to play with in the sandbox, but it’s still one to marvel at and make big machine noises with as you activate the many moving parts. For bringing our early memories to such vivid life now, the Diecast Masters Cat D10 Dozer is our construction Equipment Model of the Year for 2024.
The Model Car Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany, on January 30, 2025. Thanks to everyone at Spielwarenmesse for having us as a part of their event.
