More often than not, the Model Car Hall of Fameâs inductee for Model Truck of the Year depends in part on the flash and detail of the trailer and its cargo. This yearâs inductee doesnât have either, but itâs an impressive model nonetheless.
IXOâs 1/43-scale 1952 Peterbilt 350 is looooooong. From its majestic hood to the extra sleeper cab to the dual axles out back, this thing looks 50 feet long. Itâs a very familiar-looking truck, at least to American motorists. For decades, these were the class of the highway.
Peterbilt created what is arguably one of the first âmodernâ looking semi-tractors, yet the design has an almost charming simplicity. Ixo captures that feel perfectly. The amount of detail in the cab, the chassis, and all the parts extending from there is incredible. The black and yellow scheme looks utilitarian as all get out.
For recreating this simple, iconic semi in 1/43, the Model Car Hall of Fame Inducts the Ixo 1952 Peterbilt 350 as Model Truck of the Year for 2024.
