There is an attractive new set of Hot Wheels cars hitting shelves and online outlets lately, but they can be sort of hard to find. They’re not exceedingly rare or limited to specific retail outlets. What’s making them hard to find is… no one knows what to call it.
The set includes six European cars, nicely arranged in a displayable box. some in racing livery, some in factory colors, all looking fast and beautiful. The six cars are
- Lancia Delta Integrale
- Volvo 240 Drift Wagon
- Porsche 935
- Bentley Continental GT3
- Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
- Koenigsegg Gemera
All are based on previously available castings, but get the premium treatment with specially detailed graphics and Real Rider wheels and tires. Retailing at around $21, it’s a nice value.
Here’s the kicker… nowhere on the package does it say what the name of this set is. One would think Mattel would name it the “Euro-Dream Series” or “EuroFun Pack” or something. But nope, no name on the box anywhere. Hot Wheels frequently offers thrre-to-five packs of mainline cars with no particular theme or name. In those cases, the vehicles are often underselling models repackaged to draw new interest. But that’s not the case here.
Online, sellers are calling it different things, generally deciding that they should be part of the Hot Wheels Car Culture series.
