Before taking on the role of Creative Director and Wheelman for the Model Car Hall of Fame, Ron Ruelle worked at hobbyDB contributing many articles about diecast. How and why did certain model scales come to be?
A while back we looked at the question of why collectors and modelers “do the scale they do,” whether that is collecting, building, or playing with model vehicles. The answers vary from one hobbyist to another, but there are lots of valid reasons.
A few years ago, in an article for hobbyDB, I compiled an exhaustive list of popular (and some obscure) model scales and explained how and why those scales came to be and why some of them became the most prevalent in the hobby.
