Ask any five-year-old kid what they think about farm equipment, and they will give an enthusiastic thumbs up. In the diecast world, there have been several attempts to make tractors even more fun. The Matchbox Mod Tractor from the early 1970s and the more recent Hot Wheels Dragtor come to mind, of course.
Universal Hobbies has a new entry in that category, the New Holland T7.300 “60th Basildon Anniversary” tractor. The casting is the same one available in regular production colors but covered in a groovy, psychedelic livery. Even the rims have the colorful motif! So, it’s like a tractor-based time machine.
But wait! This 1/32-scale model is based on an actual paint scheme! New Holland decided to kick it back to 1964 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their UK plant in Basildon with a wild splash of multi-color goodness. The real tractor is done with a wrap, but man, did they lean hard into the modness here.
The decor features almost 150 tampo-print operations, quite a feat for a model vehicle of any type. It also features a lot of moving parts, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s not cheap. It retails for 95€, or about $105 USD. It will be available on October 20, but you can preorder on Universal Hobbies website.
That’s next month, but it’s not too far out, man!
