Velasor has released what’s definitely the most unique slotcar diorama we’ve ever seen, depicting the finish of the 1930 Targa Florio.

Minutes from the finish line, the spare wheel of Achille Varzi’s Alfa Romeo P2 came loose, causing a stone on the road to fly up and puncture the fuel tank. The rear of the car caught fire but, but as he was in first place and with the 2nd-place Bugatti T35 just one minute behind, instead of stopping, Varzi accelerated while his mechanic Giannella, ripped out the back of his seat to try and beat the flames down.

The duo won the race and Velasor’s diorama depicts this epic moment. Of course you can also recreate it on your slotcar track as it’s a fully functional car. The set is limited to 300 units.
