One of the first things you might see at Spielwarenmesse is outside near the train station. It’s a life-size Formula 1 car, decorated in Hot Wheels livery. It’s not quite a race-ready vehicle. There is no drivetrain at all, and features like scoops and vents are covered up.
Basically, it’s a 1/1-scale model of the car Mattel hopes to campaign in F1 for the 2026 season. With the sponsor and a cool paint job worked out, there is little to do now except to find a team, a driver, and millions of dollars. Oh, and that pesky drivetrain requirement!
By the way, did you notice it wears the number 68? What could that possibly be in reference to?
Hot Wheels is offering a 1/64 limited edition model which will be available online in a few months. It has the same performance specs as the large one, with the same drive train. In the meantime, attendees of the International Toy Fair receive a secret code to be first in line to order. Good luck finding one, this car will be going fast!
